Job Description: Product Manager

Aleria is a Public Benefit Corporation (for-profit) that helps companies plan, execute and measure the impact of diversity and inclusion initiatives. We are on a mission to make corporate America more diverse and inclusive by demonstrating the clear, tangible business value of increasing diversity and inclusion.

Aleria has secured funding to support development of the initial version of the software platform, which is aimed at startups and small growing companies. The software shows founders how much more value they will create by embracing diversity and inclusion, and how important it is to grow diverse from the start, instead of trying to “fix it” later. The platform will also tie into a variety of job boards and other communities of diverse talent, ensuring that our users have access to a large pool of diverse talent.

We seek the help of a product manager to help us create the first commercial version of the Aleria SaaS platform. This is initially a part-time, project-based opportunity that may turn into a long-term role as a key member of Aleria’s core team.

With your help, we will turn the initial prototype into clear specifications, we will select an outsourced design/UX/development team, we will sharpen the product-market fit through client interviews and an early beta program, and we will have a commercially viable product ready in June of 2018. Equally importantly, this is an opportunity to establish processes and operations for future product development and scaling.

This project will require more effort (close to full-time) for the first 6-8 weeks as we develop the specs and start working with an outsourced team, then 3-4 months primarily working with the outsourced team to ensure smooth development and deployment. If all goes well, this will then turn into a permanent position as we expand and grow the offering.

The ideal candidate believes in diversity and inclusion, and has personally experienced some of the challenges that arise from being a diverse member of a company or social group. Prior experience in SaaS product management, especially B2B, and experience managing an outsourced teams are crucial. In addition, any knowledge of software products related to talent recruitment / management would be beneficial.

The position offers significant flexibility in terms of working hours and payment structure. We are in New York but will consider remote work as long as some occasional face-to-face is possible. Aleria’s founder has been involved with several startups and believes in creating a collaborative, supportive environment that values diversity and inclusion in the broadest sense.
